Spanning the Clearwater River, the Dworshak Dam is 717 feet high and 3,287 feet wide -- only nine feet shorter than the Hoover Dam. It's the tallest straight-axis dam in the western hemisphere. There are two scheduled tours: one usually at 10 AM and the other at about 1 PM. A guide will take you deep inside the dam, then take you up in an elevator where you can walk about one-half the distance across the top.
