Placemat Exhibit
Salisbury University's Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture pays homage to the disposable paper placemat with a colorful exhibit of samples from the 1950s and '60s. Examples span the U.S. and include everything from generic themes (Baseball Hall of Fame quiz, wacky laws) to regional attractions (Florida, Ohio, etc.) to bygone restaurants. One of them exclaims, "Eating out is fun!" -- a fitting sentiment for the memories evoked by the display.
