- Salt Springs State Park. From downtown Montrose, drive north on Hwy 29 for 6.5 miles. Immediately after crossing a little bridge, turn left onto Sliver Creek Rd. Drive one mile. Turn left into Salt Springs Park. Once you are there, park and take the Hemlock Trail. It's a quick walk to Penny Rock.
