Big Mac Mighty Robot
Walworth, Wisconsin
On a rural road, visible over corn and soybean fields from a mile away, is a behemoth 45 feet high, made of 20 tons of scrap metal, and topped with an Officer Big Mac head from a McDonald's playground. Is this a mega-mecha-soldier from a dystopian world, ruled by sentient fast food characters who ceaselessly reconfigure themselves with rusting remnants of our old civilization?
Well, no. It's a two-year project from locals Robert Stewart (a salvager) and Shane Pope (a welder), completed in 2021. Their we-made-this-up-as-we-went-along approach can be seen in the box of "TNT" in the giant's left hand. It's actually a block of concrete, which acts as a counterweight to keep the titan from toppling over. The barrel-chested body is an old Pabst Brewery tank. Neither man has coherently explained why they did this.
Stewart has said that he has lots of leftover material, and wants to add to the giant statue, although Pope has dropped hints that he would be happy to never see it again.
