Alien Tourist Trailer
Sacramento, California
This public park has an interstellar theme ("Universal Universe"), with playground equipment and areas in low key space age designs and labeled such as "Hyper Warp Swings," "Planet Picnic," and the beguiling "Tadpole Galaxy."
The most wonderful object in Universal Universe is the alien RV, a brushed aluminum and scrap metal work of art on a stick. The scaled down recreational trailer is angled skyward, carrying about 30 tiny alien tourists to vacations in the beyond. One industrious being is suctioned onto the hull, attempting a repair with wires and cables.
Sacramento artist Joe Scarpa created the 20-ft. tall, 18-ft. long sculpture, titled "Port of Call: Earth," in 2005. The alien trailer is wired to light up engines and windows for dramatic night sightings.
